How to use & important details

Simple inputs. Clear sizing.

  1. Choose your instrument and account currency.
  2. Enter your account balance or equity and cash or percentage risk.
  3. Enter SL points, forex pips, a price difference, or entry and SL.
  4. Confirm your broker specifications. Use the rounded-down estimate.
Gold points vs price: what is the difference?

With a point size of 0.01, 500 points = a 5.00 price move. At a 100-ounce contract, that move is USD 500 per lot before costs. A different broker point size changes the calculation.

How are other currencies handled?

USD-quoted presets need your current manual conversion rate for a non-USD account. Custom instruments use the broker’s loss tick value directly in your account currency. No live rates are fetched. This tool estimates linear contracts using a fixed tick value; use your broker’s calculator for inverse or non-linear contracts. For cent accounts, convert your balance, cash risk and tick value to standard currency units before entering them.

Know the calculation.

Risk budget = account amount × risk percentage, or your fixed cash risk.

Loss per lot = SL price distance ÷ tick size × loss tick value, plus any commission you enter. Lot size = risk budget ÷ loss per lot, rounded down to the lot step and capped at your maximum.

Why can the result show no lot size?

If your broker’s minimum lot would exceed the risk budget, the calculator does not round up or suggest increasing risk. Review your inputs and broker specifications.
